All anyone can think about is this massive snow storm that’s hitting millions of Americans this week, so we might as well make a tea time around it!
The Knickerbocker Storm battered the upper South and middle Atlantic United States for two days, dumping a record-breaking 28 inches of snow on Washington, D.C. But by the evening of January 28, the storm was winding down, and several hundred people ventured out to catch a showing of the silent film “Get-Rich-Quick Wallingford” at the Knickerbocker Theatre, the capital’s largest and most modern movie house. During the intermission, the theater’s flat roof gave way under the weight of the wet snow, and concrete, bricks and metal rained down onto the audience. Snow storms have a multitude of iconic imagery to pull from. With their ability to make the sky and ground one flat sheet of white, to the winter weather graphs we study to see how the storm is developing. Picking a tea set might remain simple during this time as driving anywhere in the lovely snow ice might prove treacherous. You also might find yourself with all this lovely indoor time for decorating a table for few.
Grab your printer paper or notebook paper and get to town with all this newfound time you have! Be sure to rock these projects during the daylight as you might be one of the many rocking the off the grid trend this winter. Make your dream house of paper, try to make decorative fruit, or make a journal entry one of those stationary YouTubers could be proud of.
Our meal options might become a bit more selective with our stacked up pantries of bread and milk. For everyone’s favorite dish BREAD MILK! If bread milk isn’t your thing, (you freak clearly it’s everyone at the grocery stores FAV) try laying out all your chips into a decorative display or making the world’s grandest PB&J tea sandwiches.
This is a valuable time of taking way too much time doing something you can do in 5 minutes normally. Might I recommend downloading a YouTube video on how to do a dance than delighting your housemates with the best entertainment in the house! (maybe the only entertainment in the house). Make sure to grab the spare cardboard, put your back into it and create a stage for an act as good as yourself!
So you got the breadmilk (check) and you have the fanciest display of goldfish and lays the world has seen (check) and you are getting those butterflies for your very own tiktok dance you learned. What about the all important tea?
This is where your creativity can really shine with making blends of tea together that you have never tried before. Maybe mint does rock with your berry green tea? Maybe cider and hot chocolate really do belong together? Who knows until you light the stove and warm the kettle.
